Sophia's "Silver Girl" trail name refers to her silver belt buckle, which she won last year by finishing in seventh place overall among women in the Western States 100-mile run over the Sierra from Squaw Valley to Auburn, California. Her time was 21:51:43! She also won the Miwok 100-kilometer (62 mile) run in 2003, so she has, let us say, considerable trail experience. In the interest of travelling light, Sophie is not actually wearing her silver buckle on the trail! |
